国際会議終了

AP-BON（アジア太平洋地域生物多様性観測ネットワーク）のワークショップが成功裏に終了した。議長として、ほっと一息ついているところ。福岡に戻る機内で、下記のメールを書いて、海外からの招聘者に送った。

Thank you again for your contribution to the 4th AP-BON workshop. I am writing this message on the plane from Tokyo to Fukuoka. I found an interesting article in the in-flight magazine of JAL. It is an interview to MISIA, a young lady singer, by a JAL staff.
第4回AP-BONワークショップにご尽力いただき、ありがとうございました。このメールを東京から福岡に向かう機内で書いています。JALの機内誌で面白い記事を見つけました。JALのスタッフによるMISIA（日本の若い女性歌手）へのインタビューです。

JAL：COP10では、生物多様性の保全目標「愛知ターゲット」が定められました。
MISIA：昨年、難航はしたけれども、COP10が成功して本当にうれしかったですね。けれども本格的に始まるのは今年から。これから法律や政策を決めて進めていくわけで、国、企業、個人それぞれができることを探して、生物多様性の損失をとめること、生物多様性に貢献することが大切だと思います。
JAL：生物多様性は生活の基盤ですが、航空会社にとっては事業の基盤でもあります。なぜなら、世界が多様であるからこそ、人は旅をし、感動します。その自然や文化の多様性の源が生物多様性であり、それぞれの地域の魅力につながっているからです。「国連生物多様性の10年」への貢献を通じて、JALも保全に貢献していきたいですね。
MISIA：生物多様性が失われてしまった悲しい現実もあちこちにありますが、一方で、私たちの努力で復活したケースもあります。まだ遅くない。間に合うんです。ですから、今後の10年は極めて重要ですね。

JAL：In COP10, biodiversity targets (Aichi Targets) were determined.
MISIA：I was really glad that COP10 succeeded last year, in spite that there were many difficulties. It is, however, from this year that we have started substantial efforts for achieving the targets. From now, we are going to make progress by founding law and developing policy. It is important that governments, companies and individuals find out what they can do by themselves to halt the biodiversity loss and make actions to contribute to the biodiversity conservation.
JAL：While biodiversity is the basis of our life, it is also the basis of our airline business. Because the world does have diversity, people make travels and get impressed. This diversity of nature and culture is originated from biodiversity that is associated with the attractiveness unique to each area. Over “United Nation 10 years of biodiversity”, JAL will contribute to biodiversity conservation.
MISIA：Here and there we had to see sad facts of biodiversity loss. On the other hand, however, there are some cases in which biodiversity are restored by our efforts. It is not too late. We still have time. Thus I think, efforts over next ten years should be extremely valuable.

For developing AP-BON, I will travel each of AP countries over next 10 years, using JAL if possible. Visiting each country and working together in the field will be one of the best ways to develop a network. I am looking forward to seeing you in your country.
AP-BONの発展のために、これから10年間、アジア太平洋諸国を旅するつもりです（できればJALで）。各国を訪問し、一緒に野外調査をするのが、ネットワーク形成の近道でしょう。みなさんの国でおめにかかれるのを楽しみにしています。
